The name of the mountain was derived from the saw-toothed shape carved into the cliffs due to the frequent mining of high-quality Boshu stone which took place from the Edo Era into modern times. There is a ropeway to get to the peak of the mountain and from the observation point, the ocean, the mountains and, if you are lucky, even Mt. Fuji can be viewed. Mt. Nokogiri has Nihon-ji Temple which attracts many visitors. See more details
