Arima onsen is one of Japan's oldest onsen (hot spring) resorts with many little streets to stroll down and snacks to eat at local shops. An interesting fact, at Tansan Sengen park (a carbonated spring park), visitors have the opportunity to drink fresh cold carbonated water. It is said the Japan's very first pop soda was made with this water. Good thing is, that the resort is not very far from Osaka and thus ideal for a day trip for those staying in Osaka!

How to get there from Osaka
At Osaka station you can either take the bus from Hankyu Highway in the Osaka-Umeda Terminal. This bus will take you straight to the Arima Bus stop from where you walk about 3 minutes to Arima Onsen. It takes about an hour to get there and costs 1,370 yen.

When going by train, take the Tokaido-Sanyo Line to Aboshi via Maibara and transfer at Ashiya Station. Here you take the Ashiya Arima line bus and get off at Arima Eki Mae in front of Arima Onsen station. This route will take a little bit under an hour and will cost you 1,080 yen.
