I've heard that you can go biking on the Shimanami bridge in Hiroshima, and you don't have to be a professional cyclist to do so. Is this true? Can tourists rent bicycles? And would my children (grade 6 and 8) be able to do this or only adults?

Yes, tourists and families can also enjoy cycling on the Shimanami bridge. If you're starting on the Hiroshima side, you’d be renting a bicycle and starting in Onomichi. From there, you need to take a short ferry ride to the first island, as the bridge from Onomichi to the first island is for only vehicles. From the first island, you can go on for as long as you like. There are rest stops along the way so you can buy refreshments and use the bathroom. Keep in mind that it's a very long bridge and you need to get yourselves back to Onomichi so you'll need to save some energy for that as well. The website below should help you.
