Me and a group of friends will be travelling through Japan for about 3 weeks next month. We will also visit Kagoshima and from there we want to try to go to Sakurajima (Sakura Island), but what is the best way to reach Sakurajima from Kagoshima?

To get to Sakurajima from Kagoshima you can take a ferry. The ferry terminal is about 10 minutes away walking from the JR Kagoshima station. One rides costs 160 yen and will take approximately 15 minutes.
