Hi, I'm Thinking of moving to Japan, to Tokyo in particular, but I am afraid of the costs of living.
I have a job offer that will pay around 200.000 yen. I am coming with my husband, he will be working too. What is the cost for a couple, including taxes, fun, and maybe car costs?
Thank you!

Hi Andrea, I've been living in Tokyo for a while now, and I think I can help you with this one:
Costs of Life in Japan:
Rent : 50 - 100 thousand yen (depends on where you live.. a small apartment for one with Sakura House, you could find for around 50.000 yen in an OK area of Tokyo.
But if you rnt a regular apartment, it might be more expensive.
Utilities ~20.000 - 22.000 yen
--- Utilities include:
Water - 2500 yen per month
Electricity - 4000 yen per month
Gas - 10000 yen / month
Internet - 4000 yen / month
---
Above are the costs in case you are paying separately
Groceries - 35.000 yen
Fun - 25.000 yen
Gasoline - 10.000 yen
Car insurance - 16.000 yen
Phone : 14.000 ~20.000 ienes for the couple - 7.000 ~ 10.000 yen per person (you can get something very cheap and not so good for around 3.500 yen as well or even less if it's only data)
Regional government tax - 70.000 yen per person (per year)
Health insurance- 11 .000 yen per person
Pension - 20 .000 yen per person
Employment insurance - 1.200 yen per person
Income tax - 4.000 yen per person
How much you should take when you move in?
On average 200,000 yen if you stay in houses like sakura house. If you are renting a single for the first time: calculate 4 x the rent amount to bring more.
I hope this helps!
