I’ll be visiting Kobe for business and staying for a few days. I’d like to know about the nightlife there. Are there areas that have stores open until late in the evening like Shinjuku or Shibuya in Tokyo? And where would those areas be?

A lot of stores/restaurants will close pretty early in the evening, but the area around Sannomiya station (center of town) will be open so head there for a few drinks after work. There’ll be a lot of old jazz clubs if you like music. http://www.japan-hotels.ws/kobe/nightlife.htm
