Next year I’m doing an exchange program and I will study in Japan for one semester in Osaka. Is it necessary for me to learn Japan even though all my classes will be taught in English?

In any way it is a good idea to learn Japanese if you can. It really broadens your world if you know some Japanese. It also gives you some freedom to go out and do things and explore Japan by yourself. The Japanese really do appreciate it if you try to speak some Japanese or make conversation with them. Even a small amount of knowledge of the Japanese language can bring you to places!
