I'm planning to take a few days to walk the Nakasendo. I know that it's a really long road. From where do you think I should start?

It depends on what you're looking for I suppose. The roads closer to Tokyo and Kyoto are as you can imagine, very modernized, sometimes under a loud highway. But the middle part still retains a little of the rural landscape.
