My father in his late seventies is in a wheelchair. He can still walk if it's a very short distance. We’ll try touring the city by public transportation. Is there anything we should know ahead of time?

Most train stations in Tokyo have elevators but they're located a lot of times at one end of the station, so it takes time to get around. Make sure you schedule is slow and easy. You’ll need to ask the station staff to help you get on and off the train.
Below is a website with wheelchair accessible sightseeing spots. http://www.japan-accessible.com/city/tokyo.htm
