Pamela
Hi, It's my first time going to Niigata and would really appreciate any tips. As I came from a two season only country, I really want to see the sights of other seasons. I just want to ask if Yahiko park will be filled with autumn colors if I go in early October?
Also, can I go there using JR pass (Niigata, Nagano)?
If from Tokyo, how can I go to Niigata using the Shu*Kura or Genbi Shinkansen ?
Thanks!
Akane
Hi Pamela!
About Niigata and Yahiko park's autumn colors, I believe you will find this information useful: https://sp.jorudan.co.jp/leaf/spot_55024.html
In their page, it is said that the autumn leaves are from late Oct to Mid Nov for Yahiko park.
Yes, you can use your JR pass to go via the Joetsu Shinkansen, a 2h direct ride from Tokyo.
As for the Shu*Kura, it is not a means of transportation from Tokyo, you can use it locally for a fun ride. Please visit this page to learn more: https://www.japan-rail-pass.com/japan-by-rail/travel-tips/koshino-shukura
Same goes for the Genbi Shinkansen, as it operates from Echigo-Yuzawa to Niigata. please learn more here: https://www.jreast.co.jp/e/joyful/genbi.html?src=gnavi
I also recommend using google maps to check your routes http://maps.google.com/ just type your ending location, and then the initial location and see the route options.
I hope this helps, have a wonderful trip!
