My family and I will be staying in Kyoto for a week, and would love to get some information on places that I can go on daytrips to. It doesn’t have to be temples/shrines or somewhere that’s tradtional as we’ll be seeing a lot of those in Kyoto. My kids will enjoy seeing modern places as well. And as for location, it’s fine if it’s within 2 or 3 hours from Kyoto. Some information on how to get there or what we could expect to see as well would be appreciated.

Japan
Osaka is only 1 hour from Kyoto station by train (The Keihan Line Express train). Osaka has delicious Japanese food, like Takoyaki and Kushiyaki. It’s a more modern city compared to Kyoto, but if you enjoy the bustling city life, and want to know more about the everyday life of Japan, this is the place to go.You can also try go to Universal Studios Japan if your kids get tired of the normal sightseeing.
Kobe is also only 1 hour by bullet train from Kyoto station.
The night view from Mt. Rokko is famous for it’s beauty, and you can also enjoy the famous Kobe beef.
