I need some help with my itinerary for a first time visit to Hokkaido. We’ll be spending a week there for our honeymoon and would like to see the main sights. There are so many places that look interesting so I need some help narrowing my list. What are the must see places?

I recommend spending your first 2 days in Sapporo to recover from jet lag and visit Otaru. Then take 2 days to visit Noboribetsu and Lake Toya. Go up to the Furano/Biei area (unless you're thinking of visiting in the winter) and then visit Asahikawa with its famous Asahiyama Zoo. That should take up a week. If you're visiting in winter, start from Hakodate, move up to Noboribetsu then Sapporo/Otaru, then Asahikawa.
