Is May a good month to visit Hokkaido? Will it still be cold? I'll be taking my two children, so I'd like to go when the weather isn't too severe.

It’ll start to warm up in May, and you can catch the cherry blossom season in early May. The flower season comes after the cherry blossom season, so if you’re interested in seeing the spring flowers, May is a good time. But keep in mind that temperatures in May are unreliable and can drop low of the weather is bad. And mornings and evenings are generally still cold.
